Our Founder, Dr. Lillie Burns Teaches History

My mother started R.A.P Cities Community Counseling in 1975, her mission was to uplift her community and I am honored to do the same via visual arts under the DBA Rap Cities Artist. We are featuring the audio book, Know Your History, which informs the listener about civil rights trail blazers, Black entertainers and Black inventors. Each purchase of the CD or digital download of the 1 hour and 40-minute audiobook shall go toward empowering Black lives.

The proceeds shall be used to create cards featuring inventors, entertainers and activists to be distributed into depressed areas to inform them of Black excellence. Our mission is to empower and instill pride. The system is speaking loudly in its false belief of Black inferiority, and we are speaking back and saying we are gifted and worthy contributors to this nation and our lives do matter. We are going to build each other up one card at a time. If you purchase a Know Your History CD or make a donation of 40 dollars or more, you will receive a poster of an image posted on the New York BLM memorial wall, designed and painted by Lydia Vernieri. A lot of people ask what they can do to help the cause, they know what is happening is wrong and they want to be part of the solution. I am honored to provide one of many ways they can. Together we can make a long-lasting change toward equality.
